Communicorp Announces Anniversary of Parent Company Aflac

COLUMBUS, GA, December 13, 2005 - Communicorp, Inc. is pleased to announce the 50th Anniversary of its parent company Aflac.

In 1955, Aflac's founders, brothers John, Paul and Bill Amos, started a modest insurance business that operated from six small rented rooms in Columbus, Ga. Fifty years later, Aflac is a leading insurer and a global company with one of the most recognizable brand names in the world.

"It's really amazing when I look back at where we started 50 years ago and where we are today. My brothers and I didn't have much experience. But we were determined that our company would stand by the promises we made and that we would provide the best customer service to our policyholders," said Paul S. Amos, Aflac's co-founder and chairman emeritus.

That determination to honor the promises made by company founders, combined with a commitment to customer service, have become the hallmarks for which Aflac is known.

"As we continue to build on the first 50 years of service to our policyholders, we're excited about what the future holds. There are opportunities to explore new innovations and to continue to grow our business," said Daniel P. Amos, Aflac's chairman and chief executive officer.

Since its Nov. 17, 1955 founding, as American Family Life Insurance Company, Aflac has had some significant milestones, including multiple honors as one of America's Most Admired Companies and one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in America. Most notably, the company launched its widely popular Aflac Duck campaign in December 1999, catapulting its name recognition to more than 90 percent.

Several events are scheduled for the week including a special proclamation from the City of Columbus on Nov. 15 and the unveiling of an Aflac Historical Exhibit at the Paul S. Amos Campus, followed by a 1950's- themed celebration on Nov. 17.

For 50 years, Aflac products have given policyholders the opportunity to direct cash where it is needed most when a life-interrupting medical event causes financial challenges. Aflac is the number one provider of guaranteed-renewable insurance in the United States and the number one insurance company in terms of individual insurance policies in force in Japan. Aflac's insurance products provide protection to more than 40 million people worldwide. Aflac has been included in both Fortune magazine's listing of America's Most Admired Companies and Forbes magazine's Platinum 400 List of America's Best Big Companies for five consecutive years. In January 2005, Aflac was included in Fortune magazine's list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in America for the seventh consecutive year. Aflac was also included in Fortune magazine's list of the Top 50 Employers for Minorities in August 2005, and in September 2005, Aflac Japan was named the Life Insurance Company of the Year at the Asia Insurance Industry Awards, sponsored by the Asia Insurance Review. Aflac Incorporated is a Fortune 500 company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol AFL. To find out more about Aflac, visit aflac.com.
