Brochures are a staple
product for American business.
This mainstay represents a large
and growing share of the $14.39
billion U.S. Catalog market. As
larger page counts diminish and
specialty documents continue
their advances, digitally
produced brochures of this type
will be a significant part of
the modern printer’s offerings.
Often used to tell a story or
describe a specific product
line, the four-page brochure
offers the opportunity to have
the elegant look and feel of
larger page count corporate
documents and publications,
without the need to spend a
significant part of the print
budget. One customer needed to
promote a special event to a
small group of potential
attendees. They needed a
colorful, high impact piece,
without the high fixed cost of a
conventional print run. They
chose to print a few hundred on
the HP Indigo 3050 at a
significantly lower total cost
of acquisition than the
conventional press. Often,
firms have the typical problems
of document management with
conventional print. Although the
cost per copy may have been good
with a long press run, the
‘hidden’ costs of waste,
inventory, and distribution were
significant. With constantly
changing product lines and short
concept-to-market cycles, the
‘conventional’ approach for a
‘non-conventional’ product may
not always work. A digital
print/fulfillment program,
producing frequent, short runs,
when and where needed, with
24-hour service as standard may
be the perfect choice. The total
overall cost for marketing
collaterals is most often
reduced, and the time savings is
significant. |
